Surgeon Commodore B Vikas assumed command of INHS Sanjivani, the premier hospital of the Southern Naval Command, on December 19, 2025. He succeeded Surgeon Commodore R W Thergaonkar during a ceremonial division held at the establishment.

An accomplished and highly experienced medical officer, Surg Cmde Vikas is an alumnus of the Indian Naval War College and the National Defence College, and also holds an Executive MBA from IIT Madras. His distinguished career includes key appointments such as Fleet Medical Officer (West), Director (Provisioning) at the Directorate General of Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS), and Senior Registrar at INHS Asvini.

The change of command marks a significant moment for INHS Sanjivani as it continues to play a vital role in providing advanced medical care and support to personnel of the Indian Navy and other services under the Southern Naval Command.
