Major General Gaurav Sharma, SC, SM, assumed command as the Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South) at Imphal on 07 February 2026. He took over the reins from Major General Ravroop Singh, YSM, SM, during a formal handover ceremony conducted with traditional military dignity and impeccable decorum. The event marked a seamless transition of leadership, reflecting the rich traditions, professionalism, and strong operational ethos of the Assam Rifles.
With the assumption of command, Major General Gaurav Sharma becomes the 13th Inspector General of Assam Rifles (South). His appointment is expected to further strengthen operational effectiveness, leadership, and administrative cohesion of the force in the region.
