Surg Vice Admiral Vivek Hande, AVSM, VSM assumed the appointment of Director General (Organisation & Personnel), Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS), in the office of the Director General Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS) today.
An alumnus of the Armed Forces Medical College and the National Defence College, the Flag Officer is a distinguished Physician and Gastroenterologist of national repute. Over the course of his career, he has built an exceptional professional profile combining clinical excellence with administrative leadership.
Prior to assuming his present appointment, Surg Vice Admiral Vivek Hande relinquished the post of Senior Consultant (Medicine) in the office of the DGAFMS. He has also held several important administrative and clinical appointments during his service, including Executive Officer and subsequently Commanding Officer of INHS Asvini, Mumbai, one of the Indian Navyโs premier medical establishments.

Surg Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, Director General Armed Forces Medical Services, congratulated the Flag Officer on his ascension to the rank of Vice Admiral and on assuming the key appointment. The occasion marked another step in strengthening leadership at the apex level of AFMS, which continues to play a vital role in providing comprehensive medical support to the Armed Forces in peace and war.
