Lieutenant General Abhijit S Pendharkar, General Officer Commanding of Spear Corps, visited Masimpur Military Station in Silchar, Assam, to review the operational preparedness and security arrangements of the formation.
During the visit, the Corps Commander was briefed on the current operational readiness and security measures being implemented in the region. He appreciated all ranks for their professionalism, dedication and high morale in strengthening security.

Tribute to 2/Lt Rajeev Sandhu
As part of the visit, Lt Gen Pendharkar also unveiled a bust of Second Lieutenant Rajeev Sandhu at the Rajeev Sandhu Auditorium, paying tribute to the young officer’s indomitable courage and supreme sacrifice.
2/Lt Rajeev Sandhu laid down his life on 19 July 1988 while fighting the LTTE during Operation Pawan in Sri Lanka, a mission undertaken by the Indian Army as part of the Indian Peace Keeping Force (IPKF) operations.

The ceremony honoured the legacy of the brave officer and served as a reminder of the valor and sacrifice of Indian soldiers who have served the nation in challenging operational environments.
