India Hands Over INSAS Rifles to Kenya Navy, Boosts Maritime Defence Cooperation

INSAS Being Handed Over

In a significant step towards strengthening maritime and defence ties, India handed over 100 INSAS rifles and 50,000 rounds of ammunition to the Kenya Navy during a ceremony held onboard INS Trikand at Mombasa.

The handover was conducted by Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Naval Command, to Major General Paul Otieno on behalf of the Kenya Defence Forces.

INSAS Being Given

The initiative underscores the growing defence cooperation between India and Kenya, particularly in the maritime domain. The supply of arms and ammunition is aimed at enhancing Kenya’s operational capabilities and supporting regional security efforts in the Indian Ocean.
