Air Marshal George Thomas, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Air Command, visited a frontline air base on May 6, 2026, to review operational preparedness and key developments at the station.
During the visit, the Air Marshal inaugurated the Tri-Service Unmanned Aerial Systems (UAS) School, a major step toward enhancing joint capabilities in unmanned warfare. The institution will serve as a centre for training, tactics development, and integration of procedures and force structures related to UAS operations across the three services.
He also inspected various operational facets of the station, including flying operations, training activities, maintenance practices, and administrative functioning. The review aimed to ensure sustained readiness and efficiency in mission-critical areas.
Interacting with personnel, Air Marshal Thomas commended air warriors for their professionalism, dedication, and high morale. He emphasised the importance of teamwork and inter-service synergy in achieving operational objectives and strengthening the capabilities of the Indian Air Force.
