Addressing a packed auditorium filled with enthusiastic students, Group Captain Shukla shared insights from his professional journey, beginning with his formative years at the National Defence Academy and culminating in his progression through the ranks of the Air Force. He spoke about the discipline, perseverance, and mental resilience required to excel in uniformed service, highlighting that his transition from a fighter pilot to an astronaut was driven by unwavering commitment and rigorous preparation. His anecdotes from active flying and training offered students a rare glimpse into the life of a military aviator preparing for space missions.

A major highlight of the session was his detailed overview of India’s rapidly expanding space capabilities under the Indian Space Research Organisation, particularly the ambitious Gaganyaan mission. He spoke about both manned and unmanned missions currently under development, emphasizing the importance of indigenous technology in ensuring the safe launch and recovery of Indian astronauts.
