Lieutenant General Pushpendra Singh, AVSM, SM**, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Western Command, held a meeting with Bhagwant Mann, Chief Minister of Punjab, on May 14, 2026, to discuss key issues related to civil-military synergy and regional security cooperation.
The meeting marked the Army Commander’s first formal interaction with the Punjab Chief Minister since assuming command of Western Command.

Also present during the meeting were Punjab Chief Secretary KAP Sinha, Brigadier Sameer Thakkar, VSM, and Colonel Jasdeep Sandhu, Advisor Civil Military Affairs at Headquarters Western Command.
The discussions covered a wide range of subjects including border management, internal security, youth empowerment, rehabilitation of Agniveers, land acquisition issues impacting operational preparedness, disaster management, recruitment into the Armed Forces, and welfare initiatives such as housing projects for serving soldiers and veterans.
Both sides agreed to accord top priority to the completion of ongoing infrastructure and development projects in border areas aimed at enhancing operational capability and security preparedness.
The interaction further strengthened civil-military coordination in the region and reinforced mutual commitment towards joint policy coordination, effective crisis response, internal security management, and disaster preparedness.
