Headquarters Maintenance Command of the Indian Air Force conducted the Senior Medical Officers’ Conference on May 14–15, 2026, bringing together senior medical leadership to deliberate on key aspects of military healthcare and operational medical support.
Air Marshal Yalla Umesh, VSM, PhD, Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief of Maintenance Command, attended the conference as the Chief Guest, while Air Marshal Sandeep Thareja, SM, VSM & Bar, Director General Medical Services (Air), was the Guest of Honour.

The conference was conducted under the theme “Back to BASICS” — an acronym representing Behaviour, Awareness, Sustenance, Innovation, Community Building, and Strategies.
Deliberations during the conference focused on enhancing patient care, strengthening mental health initiatives, promoting physical wellbeing, and achieving excellence in military healthcare systems.

The event also highlighted the importance of innovation, preventive healthcare, and community-oriented medical practices in ensuring comprehensive healthcare support for serving personnel, veterans, and families.
The conference reaffirmed the Indian Air Force’s commitment towards maintaining high standards of medical preparedness and advancing healthcare delivery across operational and peace-time environments.
