Air Marshal Awadhesh Kumar Bharti, Deputy Chief of the Air Staff (DCAS), visited Air Force Station Lohegaon in Pune from May 31 to June 2, 2026, to review the station’s operational preparedness and ongoing capability enhancement initiatives.
During the visit, the Air Marshal was briefed on the progress of new weapon integration programmes, operational trials and various indigenisation projects aimed at strengthening the combat capabilities of the Indian Air Force.
A key highlight of the visit was his sortie aboard a Sukhoi Su-30MKI, during which he assessed operational aspects of the aircraft and received detailed updates on ongoing capability enhancement programmes designed to further improve the platform’s effectiveness.

The Deputy Chief of the Air Staff also reviewed efforts being undertaken to integrate advanced weapons and indigenous technologies into frontline combat systems, reflecting the Indian Air Force’s continued focus on self-reliance and operational modernisation.
Addressing Air Warriors at the station, Air Marshal Bharti commended their professionalism, dedication and commitment to maintaining the highest levels of combat readiness. He praised their efforts in supporting operational preparedness, technological advancement and mission effectiveness.
He emphasised the importance of innovation, adaptability and continuous capability enhancement in meeting evolving security challenges and ensuring that the Indian Air Force remains prepared for future operational requirements.
The visit reaffirmed the Indian Air Force’s focus on modernisation, indigenous capability development and maintaining a high state of readiness across its frontline operational units.
