Desa Squadron was adjudged the Champion Squadron of the Spring Term 2026 at the Air Force Academy Dundigal during the prestigious Commandant’s Banner Conferment Ceremony held at the Tejas Parade Ground on May 30.
The coveted Commandant’s Banner, awarded to the overall best-performing squadron at the Academy, was received by Flight Cadet (FC) Vatan Dhindsa, Squadron Cadet Captain of Desa Squadron, from Air Marshal Rahul Bhasin, Commandant of the Air Force Academy.
The award recognizes excellence across a broad spectrum of activities, including academics, sports, debates, quizzes, drill competitions, cross-country events, field camps and physical training.
The final event of the competition calendar, the Inter Squadron Drill Competition, was won by Naidu Squadron, which impressed judges with its exceptional drill precision, coordination and teamwork.
The ceremony featured a ceremonial parade by Flight Cadets and Under Training Flying Officers (UTFOs), who marched smartly before senior officers and instructors. The parade was accompanied by martial tunes played by the No. 3 Air Force Band, adding to the grandeur of the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Air Marshal Rahul Bhasin congratulated the cadets for their dedication, teamwork and competitive spirit. He encouraged them to remain physically fit, mentally resilient and professionally committed throughout their service careers in accordance with the Academy’s motto, “Shram Se Siddhi” (Achievement Through Hard Work).
The Commandant also commended the instructors and training staff for their role in shaping future leaders of the Indian Air Force and preparing them for the challenges of operational service.
The Commandant’s Banner Ceremony marked the successful culmination of another training term at the Air Force Academy, celebrating excellence, leadership and the highest standards of military professionalism.
