Lieutenant General Gambhir Singh, AVSM, YSM, has assumed the appointment of Chief of Staff (COS), Headquarters Eastern Command, succeeding Lieutenant General Mohit Malhotra, AVSM, SM, during a formal handing-over ceremony.
After handing over the appointment, Lt Gen Mohit Malhotra urged all ranks to continue their dedicated efforts towards enhancing operational effectiveness, organisational excellence and combat readiness while upholding the cherished traditions and ethos of the Indian Army.

Lieutenant General VMB Krishnan, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), Eastern Command, congratulated Lt Gen Gambhir Singh on assuming the appointment and expressed confidence in his leadership as the Command continues to strengthen its operational capabilities across the eastern theatre.
The Army Commander also conveyed his best wishes to Lt Gen Mohit Malhotra, who has been approved to take over as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief (GOC-in-C), South Western Command, while appreciating his exemplary contributions to the Eastern Command during his tenure as Chief of Staff.
The transition marks the continuation of experienced leadership at the Eastern Command, reinforcing the Indian Army’s focus on operational preparedness, organisational excellence and mission readiness.
