Lieutenant General Harsh Chhibber, AVSM, VSM, PhD, Director General Information Systems (DGIS), Indian Army, addressed participants of the Higher Defence Management Course (HDMC-22) at the College of Defence Management (CDM), Hyderabad, emphasizing the transformative role of emerging technologies in future military operations.
During his address, Lt Gen Chhibber highlighted the importance of robust information support systems architecture, networking and data-centricity across all levels of the military hierarchy. He underscored the need for seamless integration of information systems to enhance situational awareness, operational coordination and decision-making in an increasingly complex security environment.
The Director General Information Systems outlined the growing role of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in future combat operations, noting its potential to revolutionise military planning, intelligence processing, battlefield management and operational execution. He stressed that AI-driven capabilities would be critical for gaining decision superiority and maintaining an operational edge in future conflicts.
Emphasising the importance of technological transformation, Lt Gen Chhibber urged accelerated implementation and integration of advanced digital technologies across the Armed Forces. He highlighted that effective adoption of networking, data-centric operations and AI-enabled systems would significantly improve decision-making processes, operational readiness and overall combat effectiveness.
