Officer Trainees of the Military Engineer Services (MES) called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, where the President commended their vital role in supporting the operational effectiveness of the Indian Armed Forces.
During the interaction, President Murmu underscored the significance of the Military Engineer Services in strengthening the nation’s defence infrastructure. She noted that the skill, dedication and hard work of MES officers are fundamental to ensuring that the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force can perform their duties efficiently and effectively in safeguarding the nation.
The President emphasised that military engineers play an indispensable role in developing and maintaining critical infrastructure that supports operational readiness across diverse terrains and challenging environments. She encouraged the officer trainees to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, technical excellence and integrity throughout their careers.

Highlighting the broader responsibilities of the organisation, President Murmu said that the efforts of MES officers should contribute not only to building a strong and secure India but also to creating a clean, green and sustainable India. She stressed the importance of adopting environmentally responsible practices and sustainable engineering solutions while executing infrastructure projects.
The interaction provided the officer trainees with an opportunity to receive guidance from the Supreme Commander of the Armed Forces as they prepare to assume key engineering responsibilities in support of India’s defence capabilities.

The Military Engineer Services, one of the largest government construction and maintenance agencies in the country, is responsible for designing, constructing and maintaining military infrastructure for the Armed Forces, playing a vital role in enhancing operational capability and supporting strategic national objectives.
