Vice Admiral Sanjay Bhalla, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Eastern Naval Command, inaugurated two major welfare and infrastructure facilities aimed at enhancing the living standards and well-being of naval personnel.
The newly inaugurated Mahendragiri Block, a state-of-the-art residential complex, has been designed to accommodate 300 personnel and offers modern living amenities for sailors and naval staff. The facility includes contemporary residential spaces, a well-appointed lounge and a rooftop seating area that provides panoramic views of the iconic Simhachalam Hill.

In addition to the residential facility, Vice Admiral Bhalla also inaugurated the Dega Sports Delta, a dedicated sports and recreation complex designed to promote physical fitness, recreation and holistic well-being among naval personnel.
The sports facility features two pickleball courts, a cricket practice pitch equipped with an automatic bowling machine, and a beach volleyball court, providing a range of sporting opportunities for personnel and their families.

The inauguration reflects the Indian Navy’s continued focus on improving the quality of life of its personnel while promoting fitness, mental well-being and recreational opportunities. Such initiatives are aimed at ensuring that sailors remain physically fit, motivated and combat-effective while serving in demanding operational environments.
Officials noted that the new facilities align with the Navy’s broader vision of creating a supportive and modern living environment for its personnel, recognizing that operational effectiveness is closely linked to the welfare and well-being of service members.

The Mahendragiri Block and Dega Sports Delta are expected to significantly enhance accommodation standards and recreational opportunities at the Eastern Naval Command, further strengthening the Navy’s commitment to its personnel and their families.
