Lieutenant General Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General of Assam Rifles, met General N. S. Raja Subramani, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), in New Delhi on 3 July 2026.
The interaction focused on strengthening jointness among the Armed Forces, enhancing inter-service synergy and reinforcing the shared commitment towards safeguarding the nation’s security.
The two senior military leaders also discussed the evolving security environment, operational preparedness, capacity building and the continued role of the Assam Rifles in maintaining peace, stability and security across India’s North Eastern Region.
The meeting underscored the importance of coordinated planning and integrated operations in addressing emerging security challenges while further strengthening the operational effectiveness of the country’s oldest paramilitary force operating under the Indian Army.
