Lieutenant General Harpal Singh, Director General Border Roads (DGBR), visited Headquarters Additional Director General Border Roads (North West) on 6–7 August 2026 to review operational preparedness and assess the progress of key infrastructure initiatives being executed in the strategically important region.
During the two-day visit, Lt Gen Harpal Singh received comprehensive briefings on the operational responsibilities of the formation, ongoing road construction projects and measures being undertaken to enhance infrastructure development in support of the Indian Armed Forces. The review focused on ensuring timely execution of strategic connectivity projects that are critical for military mobility, logistics and border infrastructure.
Senior Border Roads Organisation (BRO) officials apprised the Director General of the progress of ongoing works, operational challenges and initiatives aimed at improving efficiency, project delivery and infrastructure resilience. Discussions also covered the adoption of modern construction techniques, improved project management practices and the importance of maintaining operational readiness in challenging terrain and climatic conditions.
As part of the visit, Lt Gen Harpal Singh also interacted with Lieutenant General Pushpendra Pal Singh, AVSM, SM**, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Western Command. The meeting provided an opportunity for both senior commanders to exchange views on matters related to strategic infrastructure development, operational requirements and enhanced coordination between the Indian Army and the Border Roads Organisation.
The discussions underscored the critical role of strategic road networks and associated infrastructure in supporting military operations, facilitating rapid mobilisation of troops and equipment, and strengthening India’s defence preparedness along sensitive frontiers. Both leaders reaffirmed their shared commitment to advancing infrastructure development in line with the operational needs of the Armed Forces.
The interaction also highlighted the importance of close coordination between the Border Roads Organisation and the Indian Army in ensuring that infrastructure projects are aligned with evolving operational requirements and contribute effectively to national security objectives.
Lt Gen Harpal Singh emphasised the need to maintain high standards of quality, timely project execution and operational efficiency while continuing to expand strategic connectivity in border regions. He appreciated the efforts of BRO personnel in executing critical infrastructure projects under demanding conditions and encouraged them to sustain their commitment to excellence.
The visit reaffirmed the Border Roads Organisation’s pivotal role in enhancing India’s strategic infrastructure and supporting military readiness. It also reflected the continued synergy between the BRO and the Indian Army in developing robust connectivity networks that strengthen operational capability, logistics support and national security across strategically significant regions.
