The camp brought together leading automobile original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to provide specialised maintenance and servicing support to vehicles used by the Defence fraternity. The initiative was aimed at improving vehicle serviceability, promoting preventive maintenance and ensuring that vehicles remain reliable and mission-ready.

Vehicle maintenance plays an important role in sustaining operational preparedness, particularly for military formations operating in challenging terrain. Regular inspections and preventive servicing can help identify mechanical issues at an early stage, reduce breakdowns and improve the efficiency and reliability of vehicles.

The camp also promoted greater awareness of eco-conscious driving and responsible vehicle usage. By encouraging personnel to maintain vehicles properly and adopt efficient driving practices, the initiative seeks to reduce unnecessary fuel consumption, emissions and avoidable wear and tear.

Conducted under the Green Military Station framework, the initiative reflects the Indian Army’s broader efforts to integrate environmental sustainability into routine military activities. The approach seeks to ensure that environmental responsibility complements, rather than compromises, operational preparedness.

The participation of automobile OEMs also provided personnel with access to technical expertise and professional maintenance support. Such interaction can help users better understand vehicle maintenance requirements, modern servicing practices and measures that can extend vehicle life and improve operational efficiency.

For military formations in areas such as Pithoragarh, where terrain and weather conditions can place additional demands on vehicles, maintaining mobility assets in a high state of serviceability is particularly important. Reliable vehicles are essential for logistics, troop movement, administrative support and operational tasks.

The initiative underlines the principle that military readiness begins not only with combat capabilities but also with maintaining the platforms and equipment that enable personnel to remain mobile and effective.

Through initiatives such as the Vehicle Maintenance and Service Camp, the Panchshul Eagles are seeking to build a culture of smart maintenance, efficient mobility and sustainability, reinforcing the message that greener practices and operational readiness can progress together.
