Students from border villages of Kumaon were hosted at the Indian Military Academy (IMA) as part of a National Integration Tour organised under Operation Sadbhavna, providing them with an opportunity to experience the ethos, traditions and values associated with military service.
The visit offered the students a first-hand glimpse into the life of an officer in uniform and introduced them to the environment of one of the country’s premier military training institutions.

As part of the tour, the students paid homage at the War Memorial, commemorating the courage and sacrifice of soldiers who laid down their lives in the service of the nation. The visit provided the young participants an opportunity to understand the importance of duty, sacrifice and national service.
A key highlight of the tour was an interaction with the Commandant of the Indian Military Academy. The students engaged in an inspiring interaction and gained insights into military life, leadership, discipline and the journey towards becoming an officer in the Armed Forces.

The interaction also encouraged the students to aspire towards greater opportunities and consider a future career in the Armed Forces. Exposure to the academy and its training environment provided them with a closer understanding of the values of discipline, perseverance, leadership and service.
The National Integration Tour forms part of the Indian Army’s outreach initiatives under Operation Sadbhavna, aimed at strengthening connections with communities in border areas and promoting national integration.

For the young students from Kumaon’s border villages, the visit provided not only an educational experience but also an opportunity to draw inspiration from the men and women who serve the nation.
The tour reinforced the message that the aspirations of young people from India’s border regions can extend far beyond their villages, with opportunities to contribute to the nation through leadership, service and dedication.
