The Indian Army, under Operation Sadbhavana, organised a Capacity Building and Education Tour for 20 girl students from Kashmir to the prestigious National Defence Academy (NDA) in Pune, offering them an opportunity to experience life at one of India’s premier military training institutions.
The initiative was aimed at empowering young students, broadening their horizons and inspiring them to explore opportunities in the Armed Forces and other leadership-oriented careers.
During their visit to the NDA, the Kashmiri students interacted with lady cadets undergoing training at the academy as well as women officers of the Armed Forces. The interactions provided the students with insights into military training, discipline, leadership and the journey involved in pursuing a career as an officer.
The presence of women cadets at the NDA offered the visiting students a particularly relevant perspective on the expanding opportunities available to women in India’s Armed Forces. They were able to learn directly about the experiences, challenges and aspirations of young women training to become future military leaders.
The educational tour also gave the students exposure to the environment and traditions of the National Defence Academy, where cadets of the Indian Army, Indian Navy and Indian Air Force undergo joint training before proceeding to their respective service academies.
Such exposure visits form part of the Indian Army’s outreach activities under Operation Sadbhavana, which focuses on supporting communities in remote areas through initiatives related to education, youth development, healthcare, infrastructure and capacity building.
For the 20 students from Kashmir, the visit provided an opportunity to step beyond their regular academic environment and interact with women who have chosen careers in the Armed Forces.
The initiative reflects the Indian Army’s effort to empower young minds and encourage students to develop confidence, ambition and leadership qualities while exposing them to educational and professional opportunities available across the country.
Through the Capacity Building and Education Tour, the Army sought to inspire the participating students to dream bigger and consider themselves capable of becoming future leaders in whichever profession they choose.
