Air Marshal KAA Sanjeeb assumed the appointment of Air Officer-in-Charge Maintenance (AOM) of the Indian Air Force with effect from 01 September 2026, marking a change in senior leadership responsible for the IAF’s maintenance and technical support framework.
Air Marshal Sanjeeb was commissioned into the Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) branch of the Indian Air Force in September 1988. During his distinguished career, he has held several important field and staff appointments, gaining extensive experience in aircraft maintenance, engineering management and technical administration.
Prior to assuming the appointment of Air Officer-in-Charge Maintenance, Air Marshal Sanjeeb was serving as Director General (Aircraft) at Air Headquarters. His experience in aircraft-related responsibilities is expected to contribute to the continued focus on fleet availability, maintenance efficiency and technical preparedness of the Indian Air Force.
As Air Officer-in-Charge Maintenance, Air Marshal Sanjeeb will oversee critical aspects of the IAF’s maintenance ecosystem, including aircraft serviceability, engineering support, maintenance planning and the sustainment of operational capabilities. The appointment comes as the Indian Air Force continues to focus on maintaining high fleet availability while integrating new-generation platforms and technologies.

Air Marshal Sanjeeb succeeds Air Marshal Sanjiv Ghuratia, who superannuated on 31 August 2026 after rendering nearly four decades of distinguished service in the Indian Air Force. Air Marshal Ghuratia had served as Air Officer-in-Charge Maintenance since September 2025.
The transition marks the continuation of senior technical leadership within the IAF at a time when aircraft availability, indigenous maintenance capability, modernisation and the effective integration of advanced platforms remain central to maintaining operational readiness.
Air Marshal KAA Sanjeeb’s assumption of the appointment is therefore significant for the IAF’s continuing efforts to strengthen its maintenance infrastructure, technical capabilities and overall operational preparedness.
