Jammu, 29 September 2026: Border Security Force Inspector Ved Pal Singh (also reported as Ved Paul Singh) died on Monday after falling from a tractor near his residence in the Bishnah area of Jammu district. He was a resident of Ratnal village in the Bishnah constituency.
Officials stated that Singh was on leave at the time of the incident and was scheduled to retire the following month. The accident occurred close to his house. Precise circumstances of the fall have not been elaborated in official briefings.
The death formed part of a series of road accidents reported across the Jammu division on 28 September. In Kathua district, two residents of Bani—Raj Kumar and Gablesh Kumar—were killed when their car skidded off a hilly road and plunged into a gorge near Satasar on the Bani–Basholi road. Rescuers recovered the bodies from the wreckage. In Rajouri, a mini-bus overturned near Kainchi Morh, injuring eight passengers, including two women. Additional accidents were reported in Kishtwar. Altogether, three persons died and 14 were injured in the Jammu division incidents.
Singh’s passing, coming weeks before his retirement after years of service with the Border Security Force, has been described by local reports as particularly poignant. Authorities have not yet issued a detailed official statement from BSF headquarters on the circumstances or last rites. Condolences are expected from the force and local administration as further details emerge.
