The Advanced Gunnery Course conducted at the School of Artillery, Devlali, concluded on September 21, 2026, with officers from the Indian Army, Border Security Force and friendly foreign countries successfully completing the specialised training programme.
Along with Indian Army Artillery officers, one officer from the Border Security Force (BSF) and seven officers from the armed forces of Nepal and Sri Lanka participated in and successfully completed the course. Their participation highlighted the School of Artillery’s role in promoting professional military cooperation and the exchange of artillery expertise with friendly nations.
Lt Gen NS Sarna, PVSM, AVSM, SM, VSM, Commandant, School of Artillery, felicitated the award winners during the culmination of the course and congratulated the officers on successfully completing the demanding training.
Capt Gyan Prakash Himanshu and Capt Ashish Kumar were jointly adjudged First in Order of Merit for their performance during the Advanced Gunnery Course.
Among the officers from friendly foreign countries, Maj Chakra Awasthi of the Nepal Army secured the top position.
The Advanced Gunnery Course is aimed at enhancing professional expertise in artillery gunnery and preparing officers to effectively employ modern artillery systems and firepower in contemporary operational environments. The participation of officers from the BSF, Nepal and Sri Lanka also provided an opportunity for professional interaction and sharing of military experience.
