The Indian Army’s Eastern Command has conducted joint Counter-Improvised Explosive Device (Counter-IED) training for Indian Army and Assam Rifles personnel as part of efforts to strengthen operational preparedness against evolving explosive threats.
The training was conducted by Eastern Command’s Counter Explosive Device Unit and focused on building specialised capabilities required to detect, disrupt and neutralise IED threats in operational environments.
As part of the initiative, a Training of Trainers (ToT) Course was conducted to impart advanced Counter-IED expertise to participating personnel. The programme covered threat awareness, search procedures, Counter-IED drills and coordinated response mechanisms.
The joint training brought together troops from the Indian Army and Assam Rifles, providing an opportunity to enhance coordination and develop common procedures for responding to IED-related threats.
According to the Army, the programme was aimed at strengthening synergy and jointmanship between the forces while improving their ability to respond effectively to changing IED tactics and threats.
Such specialised training is considered important for personnel operating in areas where improvised explosive devices can pose a significant threat to troops, convoys and security operations. The exercise reinforced Eastern Command’s emphasis on capability development, coordinated response and operational readiness.
