During the visit, the Army Chief was briefed on the operational preparedness of the formations under the Spear Corps as well as various initiatives being undertaken to strengthen military capabilities and improve readiness. The briefing covered capability development and measures aimed at further enhancing the combat effectiveness of the formations.

The review comes against the backdrop of the Indian Army’s continued focus on maintaining a high level of operational preparedness along the country’s sensitive frontier areas. For formations deployed in the eastern sector, maintaining readiness requires sustained attention to operational capabilities, infrastructure, logistics, training and the ability to respond rapidly to evolving security requirements.

General Dhiraj Seth was also briefed on ongoing border development initiatives. Such initiatives form an important component of efforts to improve connectivity and infrastructure in frontier areas, supporting both operational requirements and accessibility in remote regions. The development of border infrastructure has increasingly assumed importance as the Army seeks to strengthen its ability to sustain forces and respond effectively across challenging terrain.

Capability development was another key aspect of the COAS’s interaction with the Spear Corps. The Army has been placing increasing emphasis on modernisation, technology absorption and the development of capabilities suited to the evolving character of warfare. Strengthening combat capability requires formations to remain adaptable while integrating new equipment, technologies and operational approaches into existing structures.

The Army Chief commended all ranks of the Spear Corps for their professionalism and unwavering commitment. His appreciation recognised the efforts of personnel operating in demanding operational environments and their role in maintaining the Army’s preparedness.

General Dhiraj Seth exhorted the troops to remain vigilant and agile while maintaining a clear mission focus. He stressed the need for continued pursuit of excellence and adherence to the highest standards of operational preparedness.

The emphasis on vigilance and agility reflects the importance of maintaining a responsive military posture in frontier areas. Operational readiness is not limited to the availability of equipment or manpower but also depends on the ability of formations and personnel to respond quickly to changing circumstances while maintaining coordination and discipline.

The COAS’s directions also underline the importance of mission-focused training and preparedness. For formations operating in sensitive areas, continuous training and refinement of operational capabilities are essential to ensure that personnel remain prepared for a range of contingencies.

Border development initiatives complement these operational efforts by strengthening the infrastructure that supports military mobility and sustainment. Improved connectivity and infrastructure in frontier areas can enhance accessibility while contributing to the broader development of remote regions.

The visit to the Spear Corps therefore brought together two interconnected aspects of India’s frontier preparedness: strengthening combat capability and improving the infrastructure necessary to support operational effectiveness. The Army’s focus on capability development alongside border development reflects a broader approach towards building resilient and future-ready formations.

General Dhiraj Seth’s interaction with the troops also reinforced the importance of professional excellence at every level. While technology and infrastructure remain important enablers, the effectiveness of military formations ultimately depends on the professionalism, discipline, training and commitment of their personnel.

The COAS’s review serves as a reaffirmation of the Army’s emphasis on maintaining a high state of operational preparedness while continuing to develop capabilities and infrastructure in strategically important frontier areas. His call for vigilance, agility and mission focus provides clear direction to formations to remain prepared, adaptable and responsive.

The visit concluded with the Army Chief commending the Spear Corps for its professionalism and dedication and urging all ranks to continue striving for excellence. The interaction highlighted the continuing importance of combat readiness, capability development and border infrastructure in strengthening India’s preparedness along its eastern frontiers.
