Sopore (Baramulla), September 28: A Head Constable of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), identified as Pramod Kumar, died on Sunday after he collapsed while undergoing physical exercise in the Wadoora area of Sopore in north Kashmir, officials said.
According to officials, the personnel suddenly fell unconscious during the exercise session. He was immediately shifted to a hospital, where doctors declared him dead on arrival.
The cause of death is being ascertained. Authorities have taken cognisance of the incident and initiated the prescribed formalities.
Official accounts available so far have not disclosed the battalion to which Head Constable Pramod Kumar belonged, his age, or his native place. No official statement from the CRPF Directorate had been issued at the time of reporting.
Wadoora lies in the Sopore tehsil of Baramulla district, an area where CRPF units remain deployed as part of the security grid in north Kashmir. Physical training forms a regular component of the force’s daily routine.
Further details, including the outcome of the medical examination and arrangements for last rites, were awaited.
