Hyderabad / Prakasam, September 29, 2026: Havildar Kuvvarapu Kishan of the Indian Army’s 10 Engineer Regiment died on September 27 while performing operational duties near the India–China border in Arunachal Pradesh. The 35-year-old soldier was killed when the vehicle he was driving lost control and plunged off the road.
Army authorities informed his family of the incident. Defence officials have described the death as having occurred in the line of duty. The 10 Engineer Regiment forms part of the Corps of Engineers.
Kishan hailed from Pandillapalli village in Bestawaripeta mandal of Prakasam district, Andhra Pradesh. He enlisted in the Army as a driver approximately 16 years ago and was serving in a forward area along the sensitive border at the time of the accident. He is survived by his parents, his wife Sandhya, and a son. The village has been reported to be in mourning following the news.
His mortal remains are scheduled to arrive at Rajiv Gandhi International Airport in Hyderabad this evening, Tuesday, September 29, at approximately 7:15 p.m. on IndiGo flight 6E 6528. They will thereafter be taken to his native village in Prakasam district. A funeral with full military honours will be conducted there, according to Defence Public Relations Officer Siva Hari Naik.
The incident underscores the hazards faced by personnel operating on high-altitude mountain roads in the border regions of Arunachal Pradesh, where terrain and weather conditions frequently pose serious risks during routine operational movement. Further official details on the precise location and circumstances of the accident have not been released beyond the confirmation that the vehicle left the road while under Kishan’s control.
