An 11-member mountaineering team of the Indian Army’s Brahmastra Corps has embarked on a challenging 16-day expedition to Mt Thinchenkhang, a 6,010-metre peak in Sikkim.
The expedition, being conducted under the aegis of the Eastern Command, commenced from Gangtok, with the team being formally flagged off by the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of Trishakti Corps.
During the expedition, the mountaineers will negotiate demanding high-altitude terrain and challenging weather conditions as they make their way towards the 6,010-metre summit.
The expedition is aimed at showcasing the courage, physical endurance, determination and spirit of adventure that remain integral to the Indian Army’s ethos.
High-altitude mountaineering expeditions also provide personnel with an opportunity to strengthen teamwork, resilience and their ability to operate effectively in difficult mountainous environments.
The 16-day mission to Mt Thinchenkhang reflects the indomitable spirit of Indian Army personnel and their determination to overcome some of the most demanding challenges presented by the Himalayas.
