Members of the All India High Altitude Girls Trek ‘Aparajita: Parang La 2026’ called on President Droupadi Murmu at Rashtrapati Bhavan, marking the successful culmination of a challenging high-altitude expedition undertaken by girl cadets of the National Cadet Corps (NCC).
The expedition was organised under an NCC initiative aimed at promoting adventure, resilience and leadership among young women. During the trek, the cadets successfully traversed the formidable Parang La Pass, which connects the Spiti Valley in Himachal Pradesh with the Changthang region of Ladakh.
The young cadets negotiated demanding high-altitude terrain during their journey, passing through glaciers, extensive snowfields, rugged mountain landscapes and river valleys. The expedition tested their physical endurance, mental strength, teamwork and ability to operate in difficult Himalayan conditions.
Parang La is a high mountain pass on the traditional route between Spiti and Ladakh, making the successful crossing a significant achievement for the participating NCC girl cadets.
During their interaction at Rashtrapati Bhavan, President Droupadi Murmu congratulated the members of the expedition and highlighted the importance of such initiatives in encouraging young women to challenge themselves and discover their capabilities.
The President said that endeavours such as ‘Aparajita: Parang La 2026’ would inspire more young girls to explore their potential, overcome challenges and strive for greater achievements.
The successful expedition also reflects the NCC’s emphasis on adventure activities as a means of developing confidence, discipline, leadership and a spirit of determination among cadets.
The meeting with the President provided a memorable conclusion to the expedition, recognising the courage and perseverance demonstrated by the NCC girl cadets while crossing one of the challenging high-altitude routes of the Himalayas.
