Lieutenant General Madanraj Pande, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Indian Army’s Fire and Fury Corps, visited the Vyomari Vidhwansak Brigade to review the prevailing security situation and operational preparedness of the formation.
During the visit, the Corps Commander was briefed on the formation’s operational readiness and its responsibilities in the strategically important high-altitude region.
Lt Gen Pande interacted with officers and troops and appreciated their professionalism, courage and steadfast devotion to duty while operating under some of the most demanding terrain and weather conditions faced by the Indian Army.
The personnel of the formation continue to perform their assigned responsibilities in support of Operation Meghdoot, Operation Snow Leopard and Operation Rakshak.
Operation Meghdoot is associated with India’s military deployment in the Siachen Glacier region, where troops operate at extreme altitudes and endure severe weather conditions. Operation Snow Leopard has been associated with the Indian Army’s deployment in eastern Ladakh, while Operation Rakshak relates to counter-insurgency and security operations in Jammu and Kashmir.
The Corps Commander commended all ranks for maintaining high standards of operational preparedness despite the challenges posed by altitude, difficult terrain and extreme climatic conditions.
During his interaction with troops, Lt Gen Pande emphasised the need to maintain operational excellence and encouraged personnel to continue integrating technology into their operational capabilities.
Technology integration has assumed increasing importance for formations operating in high-altitude areas, where surveillance, communications, logistics and situational awareness can be significantly affected by terrain and weather.
The visit also provided the GOC an opportunity to assess the formation’s readiness and interact directly with personnel responsible for maintaining operational effectiveness in the region.
Lt Gen Pande exhorted all ranks to remain focused on their responsibilities and uphold the highest traditions of duty, honour and service to the nation.
The visit underscored the Fire and Fury Corps’ continued focus on operational readiness, technological integration and maintaining troops at a high level of preparedness across the challenging high-altitude environment of Ladakh.
