Lieutenant General VMB Krishnan, Army Commander, Eastern Command, visited Tezpur and Sukna Military Stations and interacted with officers and troops of Gajraj Corps and Trishakti Corps.
The visit provided the Army Commander an opportunity to engage directly with personnel serving in two strategically important formations of the Indian Army’s Eastern Command. Lt Gen Krishnan interacted with officers and soldiers and took stock of their professional environment and operational responsibilities.
Gajraj Corps, headquartered at Tezpur, plays an important role in the security architecture of the northeastern region, while Trishakti Corps, based at Sukna, is responsible for critical operational commitments in the northern parts of the eastern theatre, including areas adjoining the Sikkim sector.
The interaction with troops highlighted the importance of maintaining high standards of professionalism, discipline and operational preparedness. Direct engagement between senior commanders and personnel deployed in challenging operational environments also enables commanders to remain closely connected with the concerns, requirements and experiences of troops on the ground.
The eastern theatre presents a complex operational environment characterised by difficult mountainous terrain, demanding weather conditions and sensitive border areas. Sustaining combat readiness in such conditions requires continuous training, robust logistics, infrastructure development and close coordination between formations and units.
The visit to Tezpur and Sukna also underlined the Eastern Command’s emphasis on maintaining operational effectiveness across its area of responsibility. Engagement with frontline formations remains an important component of command-level assessment and leadership.
Lt Gen VMB Krishnan’s interaction with personnel of Gajraj Corps and Trishakti Corps reaffirmed the importance accorded to troops serving in demanding operational environments.
