Mathura: Satyaveer Singh, 34, a resident of Jhudawai village and an Army jawan posted at Jodhpur, died after a hit-and-run on Saturday evening while returning home from the market.
He had arrived on a five-day leave on Thursday. On Saturday evening, at the request of his wife Sarita, he rode his motorcycle to Farah market to buy household items. Around 7 pm, while returning to the village, an unidentified vehicle collided with his motorcycle near Parkham village and fled. He fell on the road, severely injured and bleeding.
Villagers recognised him and took him to the Military Hospital. Doctors declared him dead on Sunday morning at about 10 am. His body was cremated with state honours on Sunday evening at about 7 pm.
Singh had been married to Sarita for about 14 years. The couple have three daughters: Bhumi, 11, Ruchi, 9, and Arushi, 4. Sarita collapsed several times during the funeral and was supported by relatives. The village remains in mourning.
Police have not named any suspect. The report does not record an official statement or the jawan’s unit and rank beyond his posting at Jodhpur.
