Clement Town, October 6, 2026: A delegation of Student Officers and Directing Staff from the Higher Command Course at the Army War College visited the Indian Army’s Golden Key Division at Clement Town, gaining first-hand insights into the operational functioning, training methodologies and preparedness of the formation.
The visit was aimed at bridging military concepts studied during the Higher Command Course with the realities and requirements of an operational formation. The delegation was briefed on the division’s operational role, training practices and readiness in a dynamic security environment.
Major General Amaresh Gunjan, General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the Golden Key Division, interacted with the Student Officers and Directing Staff during the visit.

The interaction focused on contemporary military challenges, operational planning and the leadership imperatives required of senior commanders in an evolving security landscape.
The visit also provided the officers with an opportunity to understand how operational formations translate strategic and doctrinal concepts into planning, training and preparedness on the ground.

Professional exchanges between the delegation and the leadership of the Golden Key Division helped connect lessons from higher military education with practical operational experience.
The Higher Command Course at the Army War College is designed to prepare officers for higher command and staff responsibilities. Visits to operational formations form an important part of professional military education by exposing officers to contemporary challenges, command responsibilities and decision-making at higher levels.
The Army described the interaction under the theme “From Insight to Action — Building the Leaders of Tomorrow,” highlighting the importance of combining professional military education with practical operational exposure in developing future senior military leaders.
