New Delhi, October 13, 2026: Captain Ahaan Kumar of the Indian Army’s prestigious 61 Cavalry Regiment has brought laurels to the nation by securing third position at the CCI 4-Star international equestrian event held in Bábolna, Hungary, from October 9 to 11, 2026.
The achievement marks Captain Ahaan Kumar’s third international podium finish this season, highlighting his consistency and growing stature in international equestrian sports.
The CCI 4-Star competition is among the highest levels of international eventing, requiring exceptional horsemanship, physical endurance, technical expertise and precision. Riders and their horses are tested across three demanding disciplines: dressage, cross-country and show jumping.
Captain Kumar’s achievement is particularly significant as it comes just days after he faced a major setback when he was unable to travel to Tokyo for the Asian Games due to veterinary protocols concerning his horse.

Rather than allowing the disappointment to affect his competitive ambitions, the Indian Army officer turned the setback into an opportunity by stepping up to the challenging 4-Star category in Hungary.
Competing against international riders at this demanding level, Captain Kumar demonstrated determination, skill and resilience to secure a podium finish.

His third international podium finish of the season reflects his dedication to equestrian excellence and his ability to perform consistently at major international competitions.
The 61 Cavalry, one of the Indian Army’s most distinguished mounted units, has a rich tradition of equestrian excellence and has produced several accomplished riders who have represented India at prestigious international competitions.
Captain Ahaan Kumar’s latest achievement adds another milestone to that legacy and highlights the contribution of Indian Army personnel to the development of equestrian sports in the country.
His performance in Hungary also demonstrates the determination of Indian military athletes to overcome challenges and continue pursuing sporting excellence on the international stage.
The achievement serves as an inspiring example of perseverance, discipline and competitive spirit, reinforcing the Indian Army’s tradition of excellence both on and off the battlefield.
