Dehradun, October 13, 2026: A group of students from Durbuk in Ladakh visited the prestigious Indian Military Academy (IMA) in Dehradun under the Indian Army’s Operation Sadbhavna initiative, gaining an opportunity to experience the institution’s rich military traditions and learn about the values of leadership, discipline and dedication to the nation.
The educational visit was organised as part of the Indian Army’s ongoing efforts to strengthen connections with communities in remote border regions and provide young students with exposure to premier national institutions.
During their visit to the Indian Military Academy, the students were introduced to the institution’s distinguished history, military traditions and the principles that guide the training of future officers of the Indian Army.
The experience offered the young visitors an opportunity to understand the importance of discipline, teamwork, leadership and selfless service, which form the foundation of military life.
The Indian Military Academy, located in Dehradun, is one of India’s premier military training institutions, responsible for preparing Gentlemen Cadets to become commissioned officers in the Indian Army. The academy has a longstanding tradition of producing military leaders committed to serving the nation with courage, integrity and professionalism.

For students from Durbuk, a remote region of eastern Ladakh, the visit provided valuable exposure to an institution that represents the Indian Army’s commitment to excellence, leadership development and national service.
The initiative was conducted under Operation Sadbhavna, a welfare and outreach programme undertaken by the Indian Army to support communities in remote and border areas, particularly through educational assistance, healthcare initiatives, infrastructure development and youth empowerment activities.

Through educational tours and exposure visits, Operation Sadbhavna seeks to broaden the horizons of young students, encourage their aspirations and strengthen their connection with the country’s institutions and opportunities.
The visit to IMA also highlighted the importance of inspiring young people from border regions to explore careers in the Armed Forces and other fields of national service.
The Indian Army described the experience as an opportunity where young dreams meet the spirit of service, fostering national pride, shared aspirations and stronger bonds with the nation.

Such initiatives reflect the Army’s continued commitment to the development and empowerment of young people in Ladakh while promoting greater awareness of the opportunities available beyond their home regions.
The visit concluded as a memorable educational experience for the students, offering them insights into the Indian Army’s values and traditions while encouraging them to pursue their ambitions with determination, discipline and a sense of responsibility towards the nation.
