New Delhi, 4 October 2026 — The Indian Coast Guard has announced that recruitment of enrolled personnel for the Coast Guard Enrolled Personnel Test (CGEPT) batches 01/27 and 02/27 will be conducted through the Staff Selection Commission. Online registration is scheduled to open on 6 October 2026.
In an official statement, the Coast Guard described the arrangement as a step to streamline selection by bringing the process under a single, established examination framework. Candidates will apply through the SSC portal. Detailed eligibility conditions, age limits, educational qualifications, syllabus, and examination schedule will be published in a forthcoming official advertisement on the SSC website.
CGEPT covers non-officer ranks, primarily Navik (General Duty), Navik (Domestic Branch), and Yantrik. The batch designations 01/27 and 02/27 refer to the two training intakes planned for 2027. Reports indicate that the two batches are being opened together, which is expected to address a larger number of vacancies in one cycle.
Previously, such recruitment was handled largely through the Coast Guard’s own channels. The shift places the written examination stage under the SSC system. Candidates who clear the computer-based test will proceed to subsequent stages conducted by the Coast Guard, including physical fitness assessment, document verification, and medical examination.
The Coast Guard has advised interested candidates to monitor the SSC website for the official notification and application instructions. The force, which operates under the Ministry of Defence, is responsible for maritime security, search and rescue, and enforcement of maritime laws in India’s coastal waters and exclusive economic zone.
