Mukesh Kumar, a resident of Englishpur village under the Dobha (Dhobha) police station area, was the son of Vijendra Singh. He was serving as a sailor in the Indian Navy and was posted in Mumbai. He had arrived home on leave on October 2 and was scheduled to rejoin duty on October 23. On the evening of the incident, he was riding a bike to Kosihan village (under Chandi police station) to bring his father-in-law, Mahendra Singh, who is undergoing dialysis for kidney disease.

An unknown vehicle, reportedly travelling at high speed and driven uncontrollably, collided with his motorcycle. The driver fled the scene. Local residents alerted Dial 112, and a police team transported the injured jawan in a police vehicle to Ara Sadar Hospital. He succumbed to his injuries en route. Doctors declared him dead on arrival. Police subsequently arranged for the post-mortem examination.

Mukesh Kumar was the elder of two brothers. His younger brother, Vimalesh Kumar, is also a Navy jawan posted in Mumbai. He is survived by his mother, Asturna Devi; wife, Neha Kumari; and two sons, Pratik and Pratyush. The sudden death of the jawan, who had come home on leave to assist his ailing father-in-law, has left the family and the village of Englishpur in deep mourning.

Some reports have listed his age as 36 and his father’s name as Virendra Singh, while describing the accident as occurring around 6 pm with death declared at the hospital. The more detailed accounts from Dainik Jagran and Dainik Bhaskar consistently identify him as 32-year-old Mukesh Kumar, son of Vijendra Singh, and state that he died while being taken to hospital.

Police have not yet announced the identification or arrest of the vehicle or driver involved. The incident has drawn attention as another instance of a service personnel losing his life in a road accident while on leave.
