Faridabad, October 25, 2026 — The wife and three children of an Indian Navy employee allegedly consumed rat poison at their residence in Surya Vihar Phase 2 in the Palla area of Faridabad on Sunday, following claims of physical and verbal abuse by the husband, who is also accused of questioning the wife’s character.
According to reports citing PTI and local police, the family was rushed to hospital after the eldest daughter dialled the emergency helpline 112 as their condition deteriorated. All four were first taken to Badshah Khan Civil Hospital for primary treatment and subsequently referred to a hospital in Delhi for further care. Their condition was described as serious.
Family Details
The husband, identified as Sunil, is originally from Bihar and serves in the Indian Navy. He is posted in Delhi and is frequently away from home for extended periods. His wife, Mala, works in the marketing department of a private company. The couple has three children: a 17-year-old daughter, Srishti, who studies in Class 11; a 13-year-old son, Ram, in Class 8; and an 11-year-old son, Rudra, in Class 7.
Allegations and Sequence of Events
The daughter has alleged that her father subjected the family to physical abuse and repeatedly questioned her mother’s character. According to her account to police, on Sunday morning she was in her room on the terrace when her father took away her mobile phone and verbally abused both her and her mother. Distressed by the incident, Mala is said to have consumed rat poison in the afternoon and administered it to the three children as well. Shortly afterwards, all four began showing signs of severe distress, prompting the daughter to call for help.
Police confirmed that a team reached the spot, shifted the four family members to the local civil hospital, and that doctors later referred them to Delhi. No formal written complaint had been filed at Palla Police Station at the time of the initial reports. Officials stated that action would be taken in accordance with the law once a complaint is registered, and that the circumstances of the incident are under inquiry.
The reports consistently identify the substance consumed as rat poison and attribute the extreme step to alleged long-standing mistreatment. The matter remains under police investigation, and the medical condition of the four individuals continues to be monitored at the referred hospital in Delhi.
This account is based on contemporaneous reporting from The Times of India (citing PTI), Rediff, Dainik Bhaskar, AajTak and other local sources published on October 25, 2026. All allegations remain as stated by the family members and have not yet been independently verified through a formal complaint or completed investigation.
