Agra, November 6, 2026: Lieutenant General Amardeep Singh Aujla, Master General of Sustenance (MGS), inaugurated the modernised Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL) Regional Product Support Centre (RPSC) at the Central Ordnance Depot (COD), Agra, on November 6, 2026. The upgraded facility marks an important step towards strengthening the Indian Army’s indigenous maintenance and repair capabilities while enhancing operational readiness.
The modernised centre has been equipped with advanced repair infrastructure designed to support the maintenance and servicing of critical military equipment. Its facilities include nitrogen purging systems, an Electrostatic Discharge (ESD)-compatible laboratory and a specialised clean room, enabling technicians to carry out sensitive repair and maintenance activities under controlled conditions.
These technological upgrades are expected to significantly improve the efficiency and reliability of repairs involving optical instruments and communication equipment used by the Indian Army. The enhanced infrastructure will also help reduce repair turnaround times, ensuring that essential equipment can be returned to operational service more quickly.
The facility will additionally contribute to strengthening technical training and skill development among maintenance personnel. By providing access to modern repair technologies and specialised infrastructure, the centre will support the development of indigenous expertise in maintaining sophisticated defence equipment.

The modernisation of the BEL Regional Product Support Centre reflects the growing emphasis on developing domestic maintenance, repair and overhaul capabilities within India’s defence ecosystem. Strengthening such facilities can help reduce dependence on external repair services, improve equipment availability and enhance the long-term sustainability of military systems.
Bharat Electronics Limited, a leading public sector defence electronics company under the Ministry of Defence, plays a crucial role in supplying and supporting electronic systems used by the Indian Armed Forces, including communication equipment, surveillance technologies and other mission-critical systems.
The upgraded facility at Central Ordnance Depot, Agra, is expected to reinforce cooperation between the Indian Army and BEL in ensuring effective lifecycle support for defence equipment.
The initiative also aligns with the Indian Army’s commitment to Atmanirbhar Bharat and indigenisation, promoting self-reliance in defence maintenance and strengthening domestic technical capabilities.
By improving repair infrastructure, enhancing technical expertise and reducing equipment downtime, the modernised centre will contribute to sustained operational preparedness and support the Indian Army’s ongoing efforts towards technological modernisation and self-reliance.
