Lieutenant General Anoop Shinghal, AVSM, SM, Director General Recruiting, conducted a two-day visit to Selection Centre East (SCE) from 11–12 November 2025, where he reviewed the conduct of a professionally executed Standardisation Exercise, a key component in strengthening fairness, uniformity and transparency in the officers’ selection system.
Review of Selection Procedures and Reforms
Lt Gen Shinghal interacted with all officers of SCE and appreciated the high standards, professionalism and dedication demonstrated by the assessors. He reiterated that the Indian Army is undergoing transformational reforms in its Officers’ Selection Process, ensuring that future leaders are chosen through a system that is scientific, contemporary and aligned with global best practices.
He commended the Centre for its exceptional work, adherence to SOPs and its commitment to merit-based, unbiased selection of potential officers.
High-Value Guest Lectures for Assessors
As part of the visit, the DG Recruiting chaired two guest lectures designed to broaden the perspective of assessors on modern evaluation frameworks and public-sector selection models:
- Contemporary Hiring Practices in the Corporate World
- The Selection Process of UPPSC
The sessions featured Mr. Sanjay Shrinet, Chairman, Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission (UPPSC), who served as the distinguished guest speaker.
Mr. Shrinet shared invaluable insights on:

- Competency-based assessments
- Digital integration in selection systems
- Best practices in ensuring fairness and accuracy
His address enriched the audience with comparative perspectives between civil services, corporate recruitment models and military leadership assessment, further strengthening the intellectual foundation of SCE’s assessor community.
