The 10th edition of the India–Indonesia Joint Special Forces Exercise GARUDA SHAKTI commenced on 03 December 2025 at the Special Forces Training School, marking yet another milestone in the growing defence cooperation between the two nations.
The two-week joint training aims to enhance interoperability between the Indian Army’s Special Forces and the Indonesian Special Operations units. The exercise focuses on sharing best practices in mission planning and execution of counter-terrorism operations, particularly in semi-mountainous terrain.
Key training elements include heliborne operations, combat shooting drills, drone and counter-unmanned aerial system (C-UAS) employment, and coordinated tactical manoeuvres suited for challenging operational environments. The joint engagement is designed to sharpen combat skills, improve coordination, and build mutual understanding of each other’s operational doctrines.
Exercise GARUDA SHAKTI continues to serve as an important platform for strengthening military cooperation and reinforcing the robust strategic partnership between India and Indonesia.
