Lieutenant General Devendra Sharma, PVSM, AVSM, SM, General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Army Training Command (ARTRAC), visited the Military College of Electronics and Mechanical Engineering (MCEME), Secunderabad, on December 18, 2025.
During the visit, the Army Commander was briefed on MCEME’s training focus and key initiatives aimed at promoting innovation, indigenisation, and the development of niche technologies critical to the Indian Army’s modernisation efforts. The briefing highlighted ongoing efforts to align technical training with emerging operational and technological requirements.
Lt Gen Devendra Sharma toured various faculties at MCEME and inaugurated Rachnalaya, the Indian Army’s first Additive Manufacturing Centre of Excellence. The state-of-the-art facility is equipped for advanced metal and polymer 3D printing, enabling the rapid production of critical spares across a wide spectrum of Army equipment. The initiative marks a significant advancement in equipment sustainment, self-reliance, and logistics efficiency.
The Army Commander lauded MCEME’s role in fostering technical excellence and innovation within the Indian Army. He also felicitated veterans and serving personnel for their exemplary contributions, acknowledging their dedication and professionalism in strengthening the Army’s technical and training ecosystem.
The visit reaffirmed the Indian Army’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology, indigenisation, and innovation to enhance operational readiness and long-term sustainment capabilities.
