The 14th edition of the Admiral’s Cup Regatta, hosted by the Indian Naval Academy (INA), concluded recently with record participation from over 31 countries, marking the largest turnout in the history of the prestigious annual international sailing competition.
The Royal New Zealand Navy (RNZN) contingent was led by Lieutenant Commander Prasad Chavan, with Midshipman Andrea Hawke and Sub-Lieutenant Georgia Bilby selected to represent the Navy. Notably, New Zealand was the only participating nation to field two female athletes in the regatta, underlining its commitment to inclusivity and excellence in naval sports.

The competition was conducted over four demanding days, featuring eight intensely contested races under challenging conditions, with temperatures soaring to 35 degrees Celsius. Despite the tough environment, both Andrea and Georgia displayed exceptional endurance, seamanship, navigation, and sailing skills, earning praise from officials and peers alike.

Midshipman Andrea Hawke delivered an outstanding overall performance, consistently finishing strongly across all eight races. Her efforts were rewarded with a Silver Medal in the female athlete category, a commendable achievement at a highly competitive international event.

The strong showing by the RNZN sailors highlighted their professionalism and sailing proficiency, contributing to the success and spirit of the Admiral’s Cup Regatta. The event once again reaffirmed INA’s status as a premier venue for fostering international naval camaraderie, sporting excellence, and maritime skills.
