In a significant step towards experiential learning and national service, NCC cadets from AIIMS Raipur have achieved a major milestone by successfully undertaking flying training in a twin-seater microlite aircraft under the aegis of the MP & CG Directorate.
Two MBBS students, Cadet Deepika Palla and Cadet Shreya Jahnvi, successfully completed their maiden flying sortie after undergoing simulator-based training, marking a proud moment for the institute and the National Cadet Corps.
A total of 11 cadets, comprising MBBS and BSc Nursing students, participated in the flying programme. Notably, nine of the participating cadets were women, strongly reflecting the growing emphasis on gender inclusivity and equal opportunities within NCC and allied fields.
The cadets were introduced to basic principles of aviation, cockpit familiarisation, and flight dynamics through structured simulator sessions before taking to the skies in the microlite aircraft. The initiative provided them with hands-on exposure to aviation, leadership, and decision-making in real-time environments.
Commending the achievement, Lt Gen Ashok Jindal (Retd.), Executive Director and CEO of AIIMS Raipur, described the initiative as a historic and transformative step. He said the programme not only strengthens the spirit of national service among future medical professionals but also opens new avenues in aviation medicine, defence services, and holistic personality development.
The flying training initiative aligns with NCC’s broader vision of grooming youth into disciplined, confident, and service-oriented citizens, while enabling institutions like AIIMS Raipur to expand learning beyond conventional classrooms.
The achievement stands as a testament to the institute’s commitment to innovation, leadership training, and empowering students—especially women—to explore diverse and challenging domains alongside their medical education.
