General Anil Chauhan, Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), visited the Headquarters of Southern Command and addressed Tri-Services officers in Pune, underscoring the imperative of preparedness for an increasingly complex security environment.
In his address, the CDS highlighted the prevailing geopolitical landscape marked by the simultaneous conduct of conventional and sub-conventional conflicts, the rising influence of non-traditional domains, and rapidly evolving trends in contemporary warfare. He stressed that future conflicts will demand integrated responses across land, air, maritime, cyber and space domains.

General Chauhan emphasised the need to build credible capabilities across all domains to counter dynamic and hybrid threats. He underlined deeper inter-service integration, agile force structures, and rapid absorption of technology as essential enablers for operational success.

The CDS called for focused investments in intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance (ISR), cyber capabilities, and enhanced situational awareness, noting that decision superiority and speed will be decisive across the full spectrum of conflict. He urged commanders to foster jointness, innovation and adaptability to safeguard national interests in a contested and fast-changing security environment.
The visit reaffirmed the Armed Forcesโ commitment to joint planning, technology-driven modernisation, and integrated operations to meet present and emerging challenges.
