The Potential Subedar Major Course for Junior Leaders concluded on 03 February 2026 at the Junior Leaders Academy (JLA), Bareilly, marking the successful completion of an intensive four-week professional development programme for senior junior leaders.
Subedar Majors, equivalent ranks, and Potential Subedar Majors from the Indian Army, Indian Navy, Indian Air Force, Special Frontier Force, and the Assam Rifles participated in the course. The programme was designed to sharpen leadership skills, enhance professional competence, and prepare participants to serve as effective links between officers and troops in increasingly complex operational environments.

Addressing the participants, Brig Gaurav Kapoor, Commandant of the Junior Leaders Academy, highlighted the critical role of Subedar Majors in modern military organisations. He emphasised the importance of understanding inter-service dynamics, joint operational thinking, and leadership adaptability in view of the evolving geopolitical scenario and future battlefields.

The course concluded with the announcement of awards, where Subedar Surinder Singh of the 16 Dogra was adjudged the โOverall Best Studentโ for his outstanding performance, leadership qualities, and professional excellence throughout the programme.

The successful conduct of the course reaffirmed JLA Bareillyโs role in grooming senior junior leaders who act as vital pillars of discipline, morale, and operational effectiveness across the Armed Forces.
