Lieutenant General Vikas Lakhera, AVSM, SM, Director General of the Assam Rifles, inaugurated a newly constructed Sainik Institute and a modern Cook House in Dimapur Sector, Nagaland on March 6, 2026, strengthening welfare and administrative infrastructure for troops deployed in the region.

The Sainik Institute has been established to provide soldiers with a dedicated space for relaxation and recreation during off-duty hours, helping improve overall well-being and morale.
Alongside this, the modern Cook House has been equipped with upgraded kitchen facilities designed to ensure the hygienic, efficient and timely preparation of nutritious meals for personnel.

During his visit, Lt Gen Lakhera interacted with troops and commended them for their dedication, professionalism and commitment to duty while operating in challenging conditions.
He emphasised that strong infrastructure, effective logistics and welfare facilities are vital for sustaining troop morale and operational readiness, especially in strategically important areas.
The inauguration reflects the Assam Rifles’ continued focus on improving living conditions and support systems for its personnel, enabling them to perform their duties with greater efficiency and motivation.
