The first batch of 50 Agniveers inducted into the Aviation Stream of the Corps of EME has commenced training at the Faculty of Aeronautical Engineering (FAE), Military College of Electronics & Mechanical Engineering (MCEME), Secunderabad on 16 March 2026.
The Agniveers began their 21-week Initial Technical Training (ITT) after successfully completing 10 weeks of Basic Military Training (BMT) at 1 EME Centre, Secunderabad.
Focus on Aviation Technical Excellence
During the opening address, the Dean, FAE MCEME emphasised the critical role of Aviation Technicians of the Corps of EME in ensuring that the Indian Army’s helicopter fleet remains airworthy and mission-ready during both peace and operational scenarios.

Specialised Training on Army Aviation Platforms
The Agniveers have commenced specialised training on Cheetah, Chetak and Cheetal class helicopters operated by the Army Aviation Corps. The rigorous programme is designed to equip them with advanced technical skills in maintenance and repair of aviation platforms.
Strengthening Army Aviation Ecosystem
Upon completion of the training, the Agniveers will be inducted as Aviation Technician (Airframe) and Aviation Technician (Aeroengine).
This initiative marks a significant step in strengthening the repair and maintenance ecosystem of Army Aviation, enhancing operational readiness and supporting the Indian Army’s growing aviation capabilities.
