Surgeon Vice Admiral Arti Sarin, Director General of the Armed Forces Medical Services (AFMS), inaugurated a state-of-the-art 3 Tesla MRI facility at the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, on May 19, 2026.
The newly commissioned facility marks a significant advancement in the medical teaching, diagnostic, and healthcare infrastructure ecosystem of the Armed Forces Medical Services.

During the visit, the DGAFMS reviewed the advanced imaging centre and was briefed on its modern diagnostic capabilities aimed at enhancing imaging precision, clinical decision-making, and patient-centric healthcare delivery across the Pune medical complex.

Officials highlighted that the induction of cutting-edge MRI technology would strengthen specialised diagnostics, improve treatment planning, and support advanced medical training and research activities within AFMS institutions.

The inauguration reflected the continued commitment of the Armed Forces Medical Services towards medical excellence, technological modernisation, and delivery of high-quality healthcare to service personnel, veterans, and their families.
