A Maroon Beret Ceremonial Parade was held at the Garud Regimental Training Centre (GRTC), Air Force Station Chandinagar, on May 23, 2026, marking the successful completion of training of new Special Forces operatives of the Garud Commando Force.
Air Vice Marshal Rahul Gupta, Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Operations – Space), reviewed the ceremonial parade as the Chief Guest.
The Commandant of the Garud Regimental Training Centre received the Chief Guest and briefed him on various aspects of the intensive Special Forces training programme.

Addressing the newly inducted Garud commandos, Air Vice Marshal Gupta congratulated them on successfully completing the demanding course and highlighted the importance of continuous training and operational skill enhancement in view of the evolving security environment.
During the ceremony, the Chief Guest presented the prestigious Maroon Beret, Garud Proficiency Badge, and Special Forces Tabs to the successful trainees, besides awarding trophies to outstanding performers.
The passing out parade also featured demonstrations of specialised combat skills including combat firing, hostage rescue drills, assault explosive techniques, obstacle crossing, wall climbing, slithering, rappelling, and military martial arts.
Officials stated that the Maroon Beret Parade symbolises the transformation of trainees into elite Special Forces operators after successfully enduring a physically and mentally demanding training regimen.
The newly inducted Garud commandos are expected to further strengthen the operational capability of the Indian Air Force, particularly in carrying out specialised missions in light of the expanding role of Air Force Special Forces in operations such as Operation Sindoor.
